Bureau Guarda Nos Costa (GNC)

Guarda Nos Costa (GNC), which translates to “Guard Our Coast,” is the specialized enforcement agency under the Ministry of Justice and Social Affairs responsible for internal immigration control. Unlike IASA (which handles border entry) or DIMAS (which manages permits), GNC focuses on the enforcement of the National Ordinance on Admission and Expulsion (LTU). They are tasked with identifying, detaining, and repatriating undocumented individuals or those who have overstayed their legal welcome on the island.
