The Aruba Parliament is the unicameral legislature of Aruba, representing the legislative branch of the island’s government. Established on January 1, 1986, after Aruba obtained its “Status Aparte” within the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Parliament consists of 21 members elected by popular vote for a four-year term. It is the highest representative body of the Aruban people, responsible for debating and passing national ordinances (laws) and overseeing the executive branch.
