Profile
Located in a quiet neighborhood in Noord, just minutes from the high-rise hotels, The Old Cunucu HouseClick to open side panel for more information offers a dining experience deeply rooted in Aruba’s history. The restaurant is housed in an authentic “cunucu” (farmhouse) built over 150 years ago, featuring thick plaster walls, a saddle roof, and original architectural details that have been carefully preserved. This setting allows guests to step back in time and experience the island as it was before the tourism boom.
The culinary focus is on traditional Criollo (Creole) cuisine, prepared “grandma-style” with recipes passed down through generations. It is one of the best places on the island to try authentic Aruban staples like Cabrito Stoba (stewed goat), Oxtail Stew, and the unique Iguana Soup. Each main course is served with classic local sides such as Pan Bati (Aruban pancake), Funchi (cornmeal mush), and rice and beans. Whether dining inside the cozy, air-conditioned historic house or outside on the breezy, romantic patio accompanied by live local music, The Old Cunucu House delivers a genuine and heartwarming taste of Aruba.
