Profile
Papiamento RestaurantClick to open side panel for more information offers a dining experience deeply rooted in Aruban history and culture. The restaurant is housed in a magnificent 126-year-old traditional “cunucu” manor, which was formerly a riding school and has been lovingly restored by the Ellis family, who established the restaurant in 1983. The setting is nothing short of magical: guests can choose to dine outdoors in a lush tropical garden surrounding a turquoise pool, illuminated by twinkling lights, or inside the manor amidst rare Dutch antiques and polished brass chandeliers.
The menu is a celebration of “Aruban-International” cuisine, blending local heritage with European techniques. The culinary team, led by Chef Edward Ellis, creates dishes that tell a story, from the famous Keshi Yena (a family recipe) to fresh seafood prepared on hot stones. Papiamento is not just a restaurant; it is a museum of Aruban life, featuring an impressive wine vault stocked with international vintages and a dedicated cigar lounge. It is widely regarded as one of the most romantic and authentic upscale dining spots on the island.
