Profile
Since opening its doors in 1977 as the first Argentine restaurant in Aruba, El Gaucho Argentine Grill has become a legendary dining landmark on the island. Housed in a beautifully restored colonial townhouse in Oranjestad, this rustic and romantic steakhouse is world-renowned for its authentic charcoal-grilled beef. The atmosphere honors the Argentine cowboy (gaucho) tradition with dark wood paneling, leather accents, and the soothing sounds of a strolling guitarist duo who serenade guests with tangos and boleros.
The star of the menu is undoubtedly the meat. El Gaucho serves exclusively high-quality Argentine steaks, famous for being tender, juicy, and flavorful. Signature dishes include the massive “Gaucho Steak” (an 18oz sirloin) and the “Pincho Torro Caliente,” regarded as the biggest shish kebab ever served. While meat lovers are the primary audience, the menu also features fresh Aruban seafood and an extensive wine list applauded by Wine Spectator. With a dedicated kids’ playroom and private dining options, it remains a top choice for both romantic dinners and family celebrations.
