Profile
Established in 1953, the Aruban Music School Rufo Wever (AMRW) is the island’s premier government-subsidized institution for musical education. Renamed in 1998 to honor Rufo Inocencio Wever—a legendary Aruban composer and co-creator of the national anthem, “Aruba Dushi Tera”—the school serves as a cultural pillar for the community. Its mission is to formalize musical talent across the island, offering structured courses that range from classical theory to folklore. While its primary headquarters has historically been located within the Cas di Cultura complex in Oranjestad, the school operates with a community-first approach, offering satellite classes in districts like Santa Cruz and San Nicolas to ensure accessibility for all aspiring musicians.
