Profile
Occupying the same historic building and continuing the legacy of the famous “Fred Restaurant,” Royal Aruba RestaurantClick to open side panel for more information (often still referred to by locals as “Fred Royal”) offers one of the most exclusive and intimate dining experiences in the Caribbean. Now helmed by Chef Roy Engelen, the concept remains true to its roots: a “live cooking” dinner party where guests do not just eat, but participate in a 3.5-hour culinary journey. The evening begins promptly at 7:00 PM on the rooftop terrace with a glass of sparkling wine and appetizers, allowing guests to mingle before moving downstairs to the U-shaped chef’s table. Seating only 16 to 19 people per night, the restaurant serves a surprise 5-course menu prepared right in front of you. The atmosphere is social and interactive; unlike traditional dining where you are isolated at your own table, Royal encourages conversation between the chef and guests. It is widely regarded as the ultimate “foodie” experience in Aruba, blending high-end gastronomy with the warmth of a private dinner party.
